When your business goes under a major remodel, it is critical to let your customers know whether you are still open for business or temporarily closed for the construction process. That is the exact situation that Auto-Lab Complete Car Care Centers of Gleannloch Farms found themselves in when they decided to expand their service bays, to better serve their growing number of satisfied customers.
While most of the construction did not affect day to day operations, the remodeling of the front lobby prevented the public from coming in to schedule their vehicle service. Auto-Lab definitely wanted to ensure their clientele knew they were still open and in full operation and immediately contacted Monarch Sign & Graphics to provide their sign solution.
Always at the ready, we gratefully accepted the project and scheduled a quick conference call with their marketing department to gain their input on the sign appearance, as well as obtain all of the required logos for the sign.
While in design, we mocked up a couple of options for them to choose from. After a review of these options, the selected design provided the impression of an active construction zone featuring their logo and desired message.
As this sign was only intended for short term use, we selected economical products such as a corrugated plastic sign panel and untreated lumber to ensure the costs were kept within the desired budget. To create the images for the sign, we used our wide format latex printer to make sure the colors were bright and vibrant and that the images were crisp and clear. For the framing, we selected untreated dimensional lumber with ample support to ensure durability.
In order to minimize the on-site installation time (which can disrupt traffic flow), our fabricators mocked up the entire framing structure at our manufacturing facility and marked all of the cut boards prior to disassembly for transport to the job site. With all of the pre-work that had been done for the project, the sign went together as easy as an erector set.
As you can see in the photos below, this was quite a large sign to ensure passers-by on Spring Cypress Road could easily read the sign and know that Auto-Lab was still open while they expanded and improved their facility. As part of the thought process on the placement of the sign, both of the outriggers were designed to be behind the sign face so as not to create a trip hazard; to ensure sign stability, we included over 200 pounds of sand bags so the sign would stay where it was placed.
